Sibel Edmonds has risked her life in an attempt to come forward with evidence that the Bush administration has been covering up several criminal activities since before 2002. These activities are related but not limited to Iraq, Afghanistan and 9/11.
Just when you think Giuliani can’t say anything more moronic he comes up with a list of 200 reasons why he’d be a better President than any of the Democratic front runners. And no, it’ not the 200 wives he’s bound to enter into wedlock with. From NY Daily News:
“I’m gonna give you 200 reasons” to choose him over Sens. Clinton (D-N.Y.), Barack Obama (D-Ill.) and former Sen. John Edwards (D-N.C.), Giuliani told applauding strict constructionists from the Federalist Society.
“It’s the 200 federal judges the next President of the U.S. is likely to appoint,” Giuliani said.
This is perhaps one of the most disturbing things Giuliani has said in recent months. The job of the executive branch is not to stuff the courts with judges that respect blind loyalty more than the Constitution. Democrat or republican, libertarian or “progressive,”(whatever that means), it is your responsibility to make sure arch-criminals like Giuliani don’t make it onto the Republican ticket. You think Bush is bad? Just imagine an administration filled with nothing but comic book-like arch-criminals right from the start. At least Bush took his time to fill pretty much every influential post with felony prone idiots. Further:
Just a week after the indictment of former Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik, Olson said Giuliani had shown “the wisdom and humility to surround himself with talented, dedicated and energetic people” as mayor.
Wow. I think Ted Olson needs not only a reality check but should get himself laid.
Sure, none of us are happy about the increasing cost of gasoline, many of us are even angry. I am one of these people. However, just this morning the owner of a Marathon gas station in Detroit killed the owner of BP station rival just across the street. From Wxyz:
Investigators say the confrontation started when the owner of the BP station on that corner went to the Marathon station to discuss with its owner why he’d dropped the price for a gallon of unleaded gas to $2.93 per gallon, three cents less than BP.
The discussion quickly escalated into a fight with two more people from the BP station brawling with rivals at Marathon. One man was hit with a baseball bat in the melee. And then, police say, the 51-year-old owner of the Marathon station pulled out a gun and shot the owner of the BP, Jawad Bazzi, a 45-year-old father of five children.
I won’t even begin to discuss the social issues surrounding the crime rate in Detroit, however, this incident is disturbing to say the least. Not only does this tragedy highlight the fact that competition among gas stations is a direct result of a lack of regulation over gas prices, but it once again brings attention to the controversial subject of gun control. Rather than begin to engage in a discussion of the pros and cons of legal gun ownership, I will only say that crazy idiots such as the killer in question give responsible gun owners a bad name. Further:
In a wild post-script, it appears the BP station took advantage of the shooting. While police were still swarming the Marathon station, the BP jacked up its prices. WXYZ’s Bill Proctor reports that as soon as the owner’s body was taken away, workers at BP changed the price-per-gallon of unleaded from $2.96 to $3.09.
This little side note, more than the murder itself, makes me cringe. Price-gouging is illegal, we all know that. But to allow this type of price-hike in an effort to capitalize on a tragic murder and the surrounding media frenzy is as immoral and unethical as it gets.
Not only to I hope that the killer in question is convicted of the strongest possible punishment, but I implore the District Attorney of Detroit to press charges against all those involved in the price-gouging surrounding these tragic events.
I’ll be investigating further the language in the amnesty bill making its way through Washington and will post some legislative points for discussion soon. Until then, take a look at Lou Dobbs in his fight to educate people about the baggage (to put it lightly) that comes with illegal immigration.
With the recent Jenny McCarthy media blitz in calling out the FDA’s and pharmaceutical companies’ role in producing and marketing vaccinations with dangerous levels of mercury, more and more parents are becoming aware of the connections between the acute spike in autism in children and the levels of mercury that exist in the vaccinations many children receive.
Parents of more than 2,000 students in Prince George County who have “failed” to vaccinate their children for hepatitis B and chicken pox could face fines of $50 per day and up to 10 days in jail if they do not comply with the state’s mandated immunization requirements. From the Washington Post:
The threat of legal action is a last resort after months in which Prince George’s has struggled to get its 131,000 students immunized for chicken pox and hepatitis B, as mandated by the state. More than 2,300 students have not been immunized and have been barred from attending schools, almost two months after a Sept. 20 deadline for meeting the requirement.
“We can do this the easy way or the hard way, but it’s got to get done,” Prince George’s State’s Attorney Glenn F. Ivey (D) said at a news conference in Upper Marlboro. “I’m willing to move forward with legal action.”
First of all, there is no law in the United States that requires children to be vaccinated against their or their parent’s wishes. No state mandate or executive order can make this a law. Again, there is no law that says you have to vaccinate your children. The fact that there are religious exemptions available for these vaccinations proves there is no law. How could be there a waiver form to fill out that allows you to break the law? Additionally, the state mandate these spineless fools are all referring to only “recommends” the vaccines in question, just the same as all other executive orders and court mandates referring to vaccinations.
Unfortunately, the media attention to this situation has once again provided a platform for a propaganda push that falsely implies that it is the law for children to be vaccinated with shots that are often linked to dangerous side-effects such as autism. Further:
They expect almost 1,700 children to show up Saturday with their parents for the first in a series of Circuit Court hearings on the matter. School officials said the parents would receive a verbal reprimand from the judge and be ordered to have their children immunized in the courthouse. The students would then be allowed to return to school.
Where is George Orwell when you need him? This sounds like a scene out of a science fiction film in a world where the government has complete control over what is required to be in our bodies.
Parents who do not appear could face fines of $50 for each day they fail to get their children immunized after being charged. They also could serve up to 10 days in jail. Ivey said he hoped charging parents would not be necessary.
Necessary? This idiot of a State Attorney should be fired and stripped of all future benefits for threatening parents with jail time over a law that does not exist.
And to those who think that your vaccinated child is in danger by hanging around a non-vaccinated child, first educate yourself to the definition of a vaccine.
I thought I would post this for your viewing in the unlikely event you have yet to see Blackwater USA at its finest.
Blackwater has come under immense heat due to an alleged killing of eight civilians when several of their contractors recently opened fire in a predominantly Sunni neighborhood in western Baghdad. The above video is over a year old but provides evidence of a pattern of wild weapon usage. What the video does not show is what and who the sniper is firing at. It could have been terrorists or the alleged innocent civilians people have shouted about (again, no proof of the latter). Talk of calling in the F-18s drastically reduces the odds that the target was a group of innocent civilians.
Is it a surprise that Europe and North America accounted for 89% of the global consumption of morphine last year? True, Europe and North America make up a large percentage of global land mass, but do these two continents represent 89% percent of the pain-related symptoms that morphine is known to treat? I can’t answer that for sure, but I highly doubt it. Regardless, it’s great news that planet Earth has produced enough “legal” opium to meet the demand of our self-indulgent medical purposes. From UN News:
Ensuring the availability of opiates for medical and scientific purposes is an important part of the mandate of the Vienna-based International Narcotics Control Board (INCB), which declared that “currently, global demand for opiates for medical purposes is fully satisfied.”
The Board, which is currently reviewing the global situation of the lawful production and use of narcotics, noted that during the past five years, the total supply of opiate raw materials has exceeded the total demand for opiates needed for medical and scientific purposes.
Perhaps this is due in large part to the fact that Afghanistan has increased its opium production by more than 33% in 2007. The director of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, Antonio Maria Costa, says:
the southern Afghan province of Helmand is becoming the world’s largest drug supplier, with production bigger than that of entire countries, including Colombia.
It looks like America has moved its consistently unsuccessful war on drugs and imported it from South America to Afghanistan. One has to wonder if the American government is profiting in the same way. Further from UN News:
During its current session, the Board will also examine the consumption of other narcotic drugs, such as methadone, whose use has increased more than three times over the past decade due to its growing use in treating opiate dependency.
I can promise that nothing will be done to combat this problem, at least not in America where pharmaceutical companies love to profit off of the drug addictions and otherwise unhealthy diets of Americans. What could be better than making money off of opium related treatment?… Oh yes, profiting off of the methadone that is used for narcotic withdrawal once a patient becomes addicted to the very morphine the pharmaceutical industry made money of off to begin with.
As the increased availability of narcotic drugs raises the risk of their being diverted and abused, the Board requests Governments to closely monitor trends in the consumption of narcotic drugs and to adopt measures to counter such threats.
Yeah, right. The only monitoring the US Government will do in this matter is to make sure pharmaceutical companies are making the money they so aptly deserve for helping to addict an entire nation to drugs.
Gas prices in the US jumped back above $3 per gallon this week, confirming fears that there may be no end to the rising costs before we hit January 1. Interestingly enough the Bilderberg Group, whose members include such nefarious luminaries as Henry Kissinger, Jose Barroso and David Rockefeller, not only predicted the soon to be year-end prices but actually agreed at their 2006 meeting to help ensure that oil would hit $105 per barrel before the end of 2008. The 2007 meeting was no less evil.
It is important to take note of both who attends these unofficial Bilderberg conferences and what is discussed. Prices at the pump were slow to catch up to the continual rise in crude prices, but I think this is deliberately controlled in order to slowly acclimate the US to high prices. These prices are here to stay and the more gradually prices rise the less Americans are likely to write letters to their congressmen and demand an end to Middle Eastern oil dependence. From Oilweek:
“The consumer has been relatively isolated from these prices,‘‘ said Amanda Kurzendoerfer, commodities analyst at Summit Energy Services Inc. in Louisville, Ky.
But, she said, if oil prices don‘t retreat, gas prices could reach $3.50 or $4 a gallon by next summer.
So, we’ve been relatively isolated from the prices and one has to ask why and who is controlling this fact. I think $4 gallon by next summer is a conservative estimate, especially if you pay attention to the Bilderberg Group’s yearn to bring prices to $200 per barrel by the end of 2009.
Crude, meanwhile, fell more than $1 a barrel Monday as uncertainty about the economy and and expanding supplies motivated investors to pocket gains. Prices have risen in recent weeks on concerns about falling inventories and potential supply disruptions.
And there you have it, the proverbial pulling out of the “potential supply disruption” card. One has to ask the next natural question. Is it easier to claim “potential” supply disruption when the United States does everything in its power to maintain instability in the Middle East? Now we’re getting somewhere.
An easing in tensions abroad gave energy investors more reason to sell. Kurdish rebels released eight Turkish soldiers Sunday, moderating concerns about whether Turkey will launch attacks on guerrilla bases in northern Iraq. Escalating tensions in the Middle East could disrupt oil supplies out of the region.
Does this good news really make much of a difference when Mr. Bush can’t stop acting like an irresponsible, uneducated goat in calling for action against Iran? At least some of our most senior military commanders have vowed to resign if Bush orders a military strike on Iran. Too bad these guys aren’t sitting on the Supreme Court in order to check our President’s treasonous actions.
United Nations envoy Ibrahim Gambari paid a visit to the military government of Myanmar yesterday with the hopes of creating a dialogue between the ruling government and its opposition leaders. We all know how kindly the junta take to democracy in Myanmar, but it seems pro-democracy leader Daw Kyi is ready to “cooperate” in talks with the ruling military goverment. From UN News:
“We now have a process going which would lead to substantive dialogue between the Government and Daw Aung San Suu Kyi as a key instrument in promoting national reconciliation in an all-inclusive manner,” Mr. Gambari said in his own statement, issued at the conclusion of his second visit to the country since Government forces began using force to respond to peaceful protesters in August.
I’ll be following this development in order to find out what the “all-inclusive manner” by which they will engage in talks will really amount to. My guess is that the junta will continue to use force in an “all-inclusive” manner in order to protect their power. We’ve seen how they respond to those pesky, violent Buddhist monks when they protest.
While in Myanmar, Mr. Gambari held talks with senior Government officials on accelerating the process of inclusive national reconciliation, the restoration of democracy and full respect for human rights, stressing that returning to the status quo before the recent crisis broke out would not be sustainable.
Well, at least some honesty from the UN on the sustainability of less violent tactics.
With the recent announcement of sanctions against Myanmar by Mr. George W. Bush it seems more of the world will be focused on the developments in this war torn nation . Perhaps someone should enlighten Mr. Bush that sanctions in these types of situations don’t “help to bring peaceful change.” Sanctions will further isolate the government, in which case it will have even more incentive to tighten its grip on ruling power. Kudos to our Idiot of a President for giving the military junta an opportunity to turn their nation in to another North Korea. Bravo.
Barack Obama has gained some ground recently in New Hampshire, or another way to put it is that Hillary has dropped 10 points in the polls, her lead falling to its lowest margin of the season. From Rasmussenreports:
The current poll also shows that Clinton’s favorability ratings have dropped. Among New Hampshire’s Likely Voters, 72% now offer a positive assessment of the frontrunner. That’s down from 81% prior to the debate. Obama is viewed favorably by 82%, Edwards by 76%.
Maybe this has something to do with the fact that Clinton can’t go more than 24 hours without sticking her foot in her mouth. On the other side of the coin, Obama is as slick as he is well-mannered when it comes to highly controversial subjects such as immigration reform and gay rights.
As in earlier surveys, Clinton continues to benefit from a substantial gender gap. She is tied with Obama among male voters but has a seventeen point advantage among women. Forty percent (40%) of women have a Very Favorable opinion of Clinton while only 8% have a Very Unfavorable view.
These numbers baffle me. I think Hillary gives women a bad name. Most women I know stick to their guns. They say something, they mean it. Then again, they are not politicians and Hillary is, however, her stance on Iran, it seems, would turn women voters off. I have yet to meet a woman who supports war in general, let alone the illegal wars we are currently fighting. Perhaps this is why the Clinton campaign routinely attempts to avoid confronting the issue when asked about her recent vote to label the Iranian Revolutionary Guards a terrorist organization. Most see this a preliminary vote of support for war with Iran. Of course, Hillary claims differently.
Still, while the latest numbers show some movement, it’s important to note that Senator Clinton retains a double digit lead both in New Hampshire and nationally. Also, Clinton’s support is more solid than that of her challengers. Fifty-five percent (55%) of Clinton supporters in New Hampshire say they are certain they will vote for her. Just 43% say the same about Obama while 33% of Edwards’ voters are that certain.
And these numbers are the reason why her drop in the New Hampshire Primary really doesn’t make much of a difference. Her margin is so wide nationally that she could flat out call for an invasion and would still win the nomination. I just hope her VP selection is a good one, she needs to surround herself with less volatile human beings.
At the outset of Hillary Clinton’s declaration of Presidential candidacy there came with it the inevitable lack of sticking to her guns. Well, immigration has been no exception. She has supported so many conflicting ideas when it comes to immigration that she gives politicians a bad name. And that is not easy to do.
At the recent Democratc debate she stuck her own foot in her mouth by first stating she thought New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer’s attempt to grant driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants “makes a lot of sense.” Moments later when she was called on this support she immediately refuted that she ever said such a thing. Do you want a President that can’t remember what they’ve said over the course of two minutes? At least George Bush is stupid consistently. Take a look:
Why does she have to refer to illegal immigrants as undocumented workers? Oh yeah, she needs the Mexican vote. Illegal immigrants are exactly that, illegal. From Breitbart:
She has struggled since then to clarify her stance on the matter, which is widely unpopular in most states, including New York. Eight states, including conservative Utah, do not require proof of citizenship to obtain a driver’s license.
Clinton campaign aides say she generally supports the concept of granting licenses to illegal immigrants, in the absence of comprehensive immigration reform.
Well, there you have it. She “generally supports” the concept of illegal immigrants being granted the driving privilege we as citizens enjoy. With ridiculous concepts such as these coming from our elected leaders, how can we blame immigrants for crossing illegally? Our immigration policies encourage illegal immigration, just as our tax code encourages tax evasion. Both policies are a mess.
In an astounding feat, Presidential hopeful Ron Paul raised more than $3.5 million in one day. The outpour of support via the Internet may be the most influential element in keeping Ron Paul in contention with the horrible selection of candidates currently plaguing both the Republican and Democratic parties. From Breitbart:
Paul’s total deposed Mitt Romney as the single-day fundraising record holder in the Republican presidential field. When it comes to sums amassed in one day, Paul now ranks only behind Democrats Hillary Rodham Clinton, who raised nearly $6.2 million on June 30, and Barack Obama.
It’s nice to see Ron Paul’s name mentioned in the same paragraph as Romney, Clinton and Obama, three of the front runners. Then again, seeing his name appear with inferior candidates makes me so angry that the main stream media blackout is still an issue. True, Paul appeared on Late Night with Jay Leno last week, and what more can a candidate ask for than to guest appear on such a politically important show?! Right. Now all we Ron Paul supporters need is for our man to find a way to CNN, ABC, NBC and CBS prime time. The mainstream media can’t black him out forever…wait, I forgot, they can and certainly will try. The last thing the corporations who are pulling the government’s strings want is for Ron Paul to become President.
Let’s take a look at who controls the mainstream “liberal media” and whom those entities have donated to. We have General Electric whose television holdings include NBC, NBC Networks News, CNBC and MSNBC (the “MS” is for Microsoft, who donated $2.4 million to help Mr. Bush out). General Electric donated $1.1 million to Mr. Bush in 2000. Westinghouse/CBS Inc., in addition to CBS and Network News, operate Westinghouse Electric Company, part of the Nuclear Utilities Business Group of British Nuclear Fuels (BNFL). Who is considered the top man on the board of directors? No, not those crazy Greenpeace activists but Frank Carlucci of the Carlyle Group.
Should I go on? Ok, you convinced me.
Disney/ABC’s television holdings include ABC, ABC News Network and they donated $640 thousand to the 2000 Bush campaign. Time Warner/AOL? They control CNN and 33 magazines including Time and Fortune. $1.6 million to Bush 2000. News Corporation? Ruport Murdoch’s Philip Morris (he only “sits” on the board of directors) donated $2.9 million to Dubya in 2000. News Corp. only owns a measly 132 newspapers including the New York Post and the London Times, and of course, the Fair and Unbalanced Fox News.
So, is anyone still willing to say that the “liberal media” is controlled by liberals? It looks to me like we can all label it the “corporate media” and claim it’s controlled by crazy fascists. Ron Paul has the uphill battle of his life coming in the next few months before the primaries. Memorize the following:
Paul advocates limited government and low taxes like other Republicans,
Umm, I’m a registered Democrat and believe in these things too.
but he stands alone as the only GOP presidential candidate opposed to the Iraq war. He also has opposed Bush administration security measures that he says encroach on civil liberties.
Wow. A Presidential hopeful that cares about our civil liberties. How dare he? How dare he demand we read and practice the Constitution? If you’re an American and want a reversion to what those crazy forefathers of ours wanted, vote for Ron Paul.
President Gen. Musharraf has declared a state of emergency in Pakistan in an effort to, it looks like, make sure the supreme court is more in line with the executive branch. One could argue that the recent spike in military activity in and around Waziristan is the basis for this declaration of martial law:
In an address to the nation late Saturday on state-run television, Musharraf said Pakistan was at a “dangerous” juncture, its government threatened by Islamic extremists. He said he hoped democracy would be restored following parliamentary elections.
“But, in my eyes, I say with sorrow that some elements are creating hurdles in the way of democracy,” said Musharraf, who was wearing civilian clothes and spoke firmly and calmly. “I think this chaos is being created for personal interests and to harm Pakistan.”
The order drew swift complaints from the United States and Britain — Musharraf’s main Western allies. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice urged restraint on all sides and a return to democracy in Pakistan.
The United States “does not support extraconstitutional measures,” Rice said from Turkey, where she was participating in a conference with Iraq’s neighbors.
Really? The United States does not support extraconstitutional measures? If only the American government could apply that lack of “support” in its own country. Is it a burden to have to follow the Constitution? Regardless of the American opinion of Musharraf’s decision, how does one expect Pakistan to achieve true democracy when the executive and judicial branch are at an apparent disagreement on how to fight radical Islam? My guess is that we’ll see this martial law extended through January, the planned month for elections, resulting in an even further separation between Musharaff and Bhutto.
Perhaps if the Pakistanis really want American support to fight the Islamists, then Musharraf can start by restoring the constitution. Regardless, this is a very dangerous time for politics in Pakistan, one which requires the strength to fight the Islamic agenda of Sharia law. After restoring the constitution, maybe Musharraf can then dip his head in boiling water for considering Sharia rule in the Swat valley in order to appease the jihadists.
